Lando Norris came from the top and might end up reaching even bigger heights
As written for The Safe Driver by Jelena.
At only 21 years of age, Lando Norris has become one of the most famous Formula One racers in world history, with some of his greatest opponents calling him the potential next world champion.
The High-quality Future of Racing
Competing with McLaren and racing under the British flag, with 101 points after nine races, Norris has scored more than in all 17 races last season, being commented on as the “man on a mission” by ESPN_F1. This British-Belgian racing driver has swept the racing scene in no time.
Lewis Hamilton said he was “world champion material,” and many others would also agree that it is time to acknowledge that this young hope of the racing world can be in the same basket as any other young F1 champion beforehand. Drivers like Vettel, Fernando, and even Lews himself. His standings in the sportsbook world can also tell you a lot as Lando moves upwards with each race. After all, it is a sport, and we can put it down on paper as any other.
Norris first became known to wider audiences when he won the MSA Formula championship in 2015. In the following year, he won Toyota Racing Series, Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0, and Formula Renault 2.0 Northern European Cup. He received the McLaren Autosport BRDC Award that year and participated in the McLaren Young Driver Programme.
Road of a Star
Norris’s education started at Millfield School in Street, Somerset. After leaving school without taking GSCEs, he studied mathematics and physics with a full-time personal tutor. His family moved to Glastonbury to make it possible for him to be a “regular” pupil.
Norris’s family has helped him pursue his racing career in more than just one way. He started racing at the age of seven, together with his three years older brother. Today, Norris and his family reside in Woking, close to McLaren’s headquarters.
At only 17-years-old, Norris got appointed as McLaren’s test and reserve driver. After a fantastic performance for the team at the Hungaroring in 2017, the young driver earned the team’s outgoing driver Jenson Button.
One of the most memorable career moments was his P3 placement in the F1’s Monte Carlo Grand Prix and Circuit de Monaco. Why that race, you ask? Well, it was a one-off occasion where McLaren showed off their special Gulf Oil livery as a tribute to its sponsor and always Monaco. Secondly, it was epic scenery seeing Lando passing through the last couple of corners in Casino Square, just right next to the Casino Monte-Carlo and the Hotel de Paris Monte-Carlo, grabbing his seat on the podium. Fun fact – that’s not the only casino-named corner in the F1 calendar, as Canada’s Montreal Grand Prix and the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve has a corner named “Droit du Casino,” or “Casino straight,” as it’s opposite of one of the most recognizable casinos in Montreal. It’s a massive boat-looking structure placed on an island right next to the track that lures everyone who’s up for some live-action instead of going to some of the Canadian casino online websites.
Norris Going Big?
The combination of British and Belgian roots and good discipline and family support could, together with Norris’s talent and knowledge, result in one of the most known stories of Formula One success in world history.
Last year, with the rise of Internet usage and online streaming services, Norris became one of the stars of Formula One. As a result, his online streams became highly favoured amongst motorsport fans deprived of racing in the middle of 2020.
When the F1 season had restarted, Norris had a warm welcome on the racing scene. He took the Formula One podium finish, becoming the youngest Briton ever to do so. He immediately saw on-track success.
Also, the rising racing star has recently launched an esports and content brand Team Quadrant, announcing himself as CEO. At only 21 years of age, this driver has already gained some knowledge and experience. However, he still has a long way to go, and we can’t wait to see what’s installed for him next.
